Euro privacy policy

The short version

Euro has no accounts and no sign-in. It does not collect your name, email, or contact details. Your scan history stays on your phone, and you can delete it at any time from Settings.

What stays on your device

• Your scan history and pantry audits.
• Cached product information, so previous scans work offline.
• Your app preferences.

This information is stored only in the app’s private storage on your phone. It is not uploaded, and we cannot see it. Deleting the app, or using “Delete all my data” in Settings, removes it permanently.

Your camera

Euro uses the camera in two ways. When you scan a barcode, the camera feed is processed entirely on your device — video is never recorded, stored, or transmitted.

When you photograph an ingredients label, the text is read using on-device text recognition built into your phone. The photo never leaves your device, and it is not kept.

What is sent off your device

• Barcode lookups. When you scan a product, its barcode number is sent to our product information provider to retrieve that product’s name, image, and ingredients. No information about you is attached to that request.
• Advertising. Euro shows ads supplied by Google AdMob, which may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve and measure ads. See Google’s privacy policy for details.
• Shopping links. If you tap a suggested alternative, you leave Euro for a retailer’s website and their privacy policy applies. We may earn a commission from purchases made through those links.

Automated ingredient analysis

Euro compares a product’s ingredients against a database of substances that are banned, restricted, or warning-labelled in the European Union. This comparison runs entirely on your device using a database bundled with the app. No profile of you is built, and the results are not sent anywhere.

Text recognition on ingredient labels uses your device’s built-in machine-learning text recognition. It reads printed characters only; it does not identify people.

Children

Euro is a general-audience food information app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Deleting your data

Because everything is stored locally, you are always in control. Settings → “Delete all my data” erases your scan history, pantry audits, cached products, and preferences immediately. Deleting the app does the same.

Accuracy and disclaimer

Euro provides consumer information, not legal, medical, or dietary advice. Ingredient data comes from a public product database and from published EU regulations, and it can be incomplete or out of date. Regulations and recipes change. Always check the physical label before making a decision, especially regarding allergies.
